Arriving at Cape Town International Airport (CPT)

Cape Town International Airport is located about 20 kilometres from the city centre. The airport hosts most major airlines offering direct flights to and from several destinations in Africa, Europe and Asia.

For flight reservations, contact our local travel agent Club Travel Corporate. Contact: Somaya Abdurahman, E-mail: somaya@corporate1.co.za, Tel: +27 21 487 4100 / After hours: +27 60 839 6472

You can book your airport transfer online through our tour operator Quality Touring Services (QTS).

Should you not have prearranged transport to your accommodation, there are several airport shuttle companies and metered taxis stationed at arrivals. The MyCity bus rapid transit system also operates between the airport and the Civic Centre bus station located in the city’s central business district, which connects you to the city’s bus system.

Visa

As you plan your trip to Cape Town, please consult your travel agent for visa requirements and application procedures.

It is important to note that most non-South African citizens wanting to visit South Africa must have a valid visa to enter South Africa. Passport holders from some countries are exempt from needing a visa for visiting South Africa for less than thirty days, but you should fully investigate if a visa is necessary before making travel arrangements. The South African Department of Home Affairs lists countries that are exempt from visa requirements.

A Letter of Invitation might be required for your visa application. The ASAA2022 Conference Organisers can issue this letter once you have completed your registration.

For more information on South African visa requirements for overseas visitors, visit the Western Cape Government website and the South African Tourism page Here’s what you need to know about visas.

Immunisations

Please consult your local healthcare advisor about the vaccinations and vaccination boosters you might need.

If you are travelling from a yellow fever endemic country, note that you MUST carry a valid yellow fever certificate with you. The injection must be administered at least ten (10) days in advance of your arrival in South Africa. You will be turned back or quarantined if you do not comply with this regulation.
